Music On Your Own Terms 121 - Dylan Blackman/Music Minds Collective - Live Long And Promote!
Joining me for a chat this time around, is Dylan Blackman, who runs Music Minds Collective, a digital marketing agency that helps indie musicians run better campaigns to find new fans, and be more effective with existing followers. We talk about Dylan's background as a musician, how he got into his day job as a performance and sound production lecturer at a technical college, and how he ended up working in marketing. Dylan also shares some great insight into what makes a successful marketing campaign, both during a release, as well as the in between release times, where he suggests you should still be working hard to gain a following, so that your next release is even bigger.

Music On Your Own Terms 120 - Kostas Sampanis - Atumune In The Mountains
This episode I am joined by Greek guitarist, Kostas Sampanis, to talk about his newly released EP, Autumne. We discuss the conception of the album, which Kostas reveals is dedicated to his late grandmother, something that I really connect to on a deep emotional level, as my grandmother was very special to me as well. In addition to his EP, we also talk about Kostas' philosophies on teaching music theory and technique which is his primary source of income. Finally Kostas shares his recent experience with cancer and how music helped his time in hospital to endure the pain he was in. Once again I want to thank my friend Ria from One Woman Company for turning me on to another fantastic artist, I was absolutely blown away by Kostas' music and playing as soon as I heard it. Make sure you subscribe to Kostas' Youtube channel to check out some really tasty jams and covers.

Music On Your Own Terms 071 - Dan Clayton/Fret Success - Still Being Himself
We are both guitar nerds, and we both left the UK to live in North America. Dan Clayton is an acoustics engineer based in Calgary, Canada, that also records his own music, mixes others', and is the founder of Fret Success, an online resource for guitar players looking to improve their skills. Dan shares his journey from asking his parents for saxophone lessons and inheriting his dad's guitar instead, opening for some popular touring bands in the UK, and why he moved to Canada. Music On Your Own Terms 068 - Joe Messina – Politics, Porpoises, and Phallic Humor
In this episode, we learn about the history of Boston based guitarist, comedian, podcaster, activist and teacher, Joe Messina. From growing up in a musical family and not wanting to follow the family business, to discovering comedy and wanting to become an aspiring writer, he was then diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Despite almost quitting music altogether, Joe found himself embracing music once again, teaches guitar and other instruments, and is about to release his new album Rageonomics. Joe also hosts a podcast that aims to provide a roadmap for those who feel frustrated with the slow and ineffective voting system, and want to do more in the way of direct action outside of sharing posts and signing petitions.
