Music On Your Own Terms 103 - Tom Callahan - The Ethics Of Supporting Indie Artists
In this episode I talk to Tom Callahan, a music industry veteran who has worked for IRS records with Miles Copeland, Virgin records and more besides, helped co-found the licensing platform Songtradr, and has now launched a full service marketing and distribution company for artists called Indie Advance. Tom talks about his history in the industry, including his start as a touring musician, working as a record promoter, and what drives him to want to help educate up and coming artists about the business. We also learn about Tom's thoughts on social media, how to conduct business in an ethical manner, and what he thinks about American Idol.

Music On Your Own Terms 082 - Carolyn Sills & Gerard Egan - A Perfect Combo
After playing their song "Bad For You" on episode 67 with David Dennis, I had to get The Carolyn Sills Combo on the podcast for an interview. Namesake Carolyn and her husband Gerard, the guitar player for the band, share their history in music, working for the Santa Cruz Guitar Co., and what it means to be able to live a life dedicated to music. We hear about their life's journey from college, living in New York and touring Europe, to moving to California and forming the current group. I truly enjoyed getting to know Carolyn and Gerard, they impart some really valuable wisdom, and we also nerd out on gear!
