Music On Your Own Terms 097 - Ed Wynne - Malcolm Segments, Desmond Wisps & Ozric Tentacles
This episode I am ecstatic to be speaking with the absolute legend that is Mr Ed Wynne from The Ozric Tentacles, a band I have been following for over 20 years. Ed discusses his background, including his artistic upbringing with his dad being famous sculptor Sir David Wynne, being personally encouraged by George Harrison to play guitar, and his experimentation with his friend's Moog synthesizer. We discuss the new Ozrics album, what prompted him to record a solo album, his work with Jordan Rudess, and what it means to be able to tour and play music with his family. We also hear how Ed's synesthesia is helpful with mixing music, and finally he gives some great advice for musicians looking to make a career from music.

Music On Your Own Terms 093 - Andy & James/Black Crown Initiate - Booty Shorts & Existential Crises
This go around features one of my favorite bands to come out in the last 10 years, Black Crown Initiate. Guitarist Andy Thomas and Vocalist James Dorton talk about the very real, and very emotionally taxing situation of creating their new album, dealing with not being able to tour because of the Covid situation, and what that means for the band, and their mental health. We learn about how the guys got into music, what other projects they are working on, and their thoughts on how AI and social media are negatively affecting society.

Music On Your Own Terms 074 - The McGrath Project - LA Story
This episode I talk to three members of The McGrath Project, namesake Gary McGrath, Jonathan Moore and Jonathan McNary, a Fort Worth based band that is about to release a concept album influenced by albums such as Pink Floyd's The Wall, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Gary discusses moving to LA to learn studio engineering and becoming a session guitar player, touring with some big names from past decades, and returning to his hometown of Fort Worth to form a new version of the McGrath Project and record new music. We learn from both Jonathan's, about how they got started on their respective instruments, and the amount of dedication that has lead them to pursue a full time career in music.

Music On Your Own Terms 064 - Isbjörg - Pianos, Prog And Hiding Toes
I recently stumbled upon a cover video of a song by the amazing Australian band Toehider. Being floored by the musicianship of the guys playing the song, I had to check their band out, and was immediately hooked on their sound. Isbjörg are a piano driven prog band, based in Aarhus, Denmark, and the more I listen to their music, the more I feel I am going to become a superfan. The guys discuss the history of the band, how they write and talk about some innovative ways in which they have gained fans and won a spot playing a major Danish festival. We also hear about the culture of Denmark's live scene, how they overcame losing pivotal members of the band, and what the future holds once the COVID situation is over.

Music On Your Own Terms 063 - Storyteller - From The Darkness Into The Light
Hailing mostly from the Dallas, Texas area, Storyteller are an eclectic sounding band in terms of where they fit genre-wise, but they are extremely focused on the message they portray both musically and lyrically. As you'll discover in one of the deepest interviews I have done thus far, the emotional connection that comes out of the band is undeniable. Having witnessed first hand the intensity that the band and in particular Justin the vocalist performs with, the art being produced is incredibly authentic. In this interview, we learn what drives the music, what the guys have been up to during the lock down, and how they are managing the band with a member living in a different state.
